Surrealism, like dreams and fantasy, has infinite potential. Broader than our perceived reality, it combines metaphor, realism, concepts, and unexpected juxtaposition into a visual language which may suggest irrational or subconscious associations, or may convey an archetype or a dreamy mood. In these turbulent, rapidly changing times, we all share certain experiences and concerns - our Zeitgeist. Surrealist painting, with its waking, dreamlike, far-ranging possibilities, is one way to approach thinking about the complexities of a world in extreme flux. |
